We’re looking for a Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our Estate Facilities and Scientific Services team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining and improving our electrical and building services, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems and building services across our site.
  • Ensure electrical equipment is serviced to minimize downtime and prevent failures.
  • Oversee contractors, ensuring work meets Rothamsted Research standards and safety requirements.
  • Carry out planned maintenance and repairs in line with SFG20 and statutory legislation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in electrical maintenance with a solid understanding of electrical systems and distribution (ACB, MCCB, MCB, RCD, RCBO, etc.).
  • Knowledge of generators, UPS systems, and BMS controls.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with HVAC or mechanical services maintenance is a plus.
  • Great communication and planning skills, with a commitment to health and safety.
