Interested in insects? Do like a combination of lab and fieldwork? Have you got some experience with insect identification?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated entomologist who is keen to work with the Rothamsted Insect Survey. The post includes both laboratory and field work in quite a diverse role. The main task will be to work with the aphid team where the post-holder will be expected to quickly learn to identify a range of insects, including aphids, collect trap catches and help with tasks associated with the efficient running of the laboratory. Additionally, you will be expected to assist with fieldwork and may be required to stay overnight close to field sites or work during the evening to assist with entomology projects.
A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant academic/research area OR excellent practical entomological skills without any formal qualification will be required, together with lab and microscope experience. Fieldwork and well-developed understanding of relevant health and safety policy and procedures and quality control standards are desirable.
Interested but not sure you tick every box? Research shows that some people are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single criteria. At Rothamsted we are committed to building diverse teams so please apply even if your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the requirements - you might just be the perfect fit!
