Overview Of Role

Rothamsted Research is recruiting 2nd level IT Helpdesk Support Engineers within our IT Services Department with responsibility for the delivery of IT Support to specialist scientific and operational areas, based in Harpenden. 

The successful applicants will be responsible for providing advanced desktop computing and science/business operational systems support to both on-site and remote workers across our locations, which include a site in Harpenden Hertfordshire, North Wyke, Devon and Brooms Barn, Suffolk. 

The main focus of the role will involve working on the IT Helpdesk using Halo ITSM to handle assigned calls and provide hardware and software support for users on desktops, laptops and mobile devices. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the latest Microsoft operating systems, M365; any Mac experience would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the quotation, configuration and deployment of new and existing devices across the institute as well as decommissioning equipment ready for recycling. Involvement in ad-hoc project work to implement technical solutions across the IT infrastructure is also a requirement.

Experience of enterprise grade networking support would also be beneficial as would any exposure to unified communications systems and applications. Experience and understanding of device compliance using Intune in accordance with Cyber Essentials requirements would be desirable. 
We are recruiting two Engineers to be based at our site in central Harpenden, with Hybrid working options available, working 37 hours per week. The role is for a 3 year fixed term, in the first instance, offering a competitive salary, dependent on successful candidates' experience and qualifications.
