Overview Of Role

Are you an experienced, flexible and proactive HRBP who would like to help our scientists build a future for sustainable agriculture? 

Rothamsted Research is renowned for national and international science and innovation in agriculture, both in arable and grazing livestock systems, founded on its long history, profound knowledge of agricultural systems and unique long-term data sets and lab-to-field capabilities.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an HR Business Partner to join our HR Team, to provide HR Business support across assigned areas within our science, business and operational services:-

  • Rothamsted Research (in Harpenden and Devon),
  • Rothamsted Enterprises (covering commercial hospitality/conferencing and events) and
  • Lawes Agricultural Trust (who own the Rothamsted Estate)

Placed at the heart of Rothamsted activities we are seeking a HRBP who can can demonstrate the ability to build positive relations with science and non-science stakeholders and enjoy working in a varied role.

To be successful in this role you must have proven experience as a business partner, be able to need to demonstrate effective communication skills, pragmatic problem solving and a sound working knowledge of employment law.  The role requires a trusted partner with the ability to prioritise and manage a diverse and busy workload, but more important is someone who is a collaborative and positive team player with a desire to make a difference and add value.

On a day-to-day basis you will be providing strategic and tactical HR business support to your assigned areas, supporting management and staff throughout the entire employment lifecycle.  The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting our diversity and inclusion efforts, influencing and shaping our employee experience and contributing to broader institute-wide HR projects to drive our strategic People and Culture agenda forwards.

We support hybrid working (typically 3 days on site per week) and ensure that you have the required equipment to allow you to work flexibly. 

The benefits package includes a competitive salary, defined contribution pension scheme with Rothamsted contributing between 10-15%, life assurance, 30 days annual leave (plus Christmas closure), cycle to work scheme and Employee Assistance Programme.

This is a full-time 3 year fixed-term position, in the first instance, with a salary in the range between £37,890 to £41,438 per annum (dependant on experience).
 
Bi-monthly travel to North Wyke, Devon will be required.
