Are you an experienced Field Technician?
We are seeking a Field Technician in the Protecting Crops and the Environment Department at Rothamsted Research, employed on a 5-month fixed-term contract, funded by BBSRC and Syngenta.
The project aims to evaluate synthetic blends of semiochemicals for monitoring Agriotes wireworms, serious pests of a range of key UK crops.
The successful candiate will be involved in the preparation of lure formulations and trapping devices, installation of soil traps in experimental fields at multiple sites across England, inspection and renewal of traps weekly, processing and recording trap catch data.
A background in entomology with experience in field working including arthropod sampling methodologies is essential. Insect identification skills are also required for this project, to accurately identify and quantify trap catches.
It is expected that the post holder will also have a range of computer skills that illustrate a competency in Microsoft Office software to help others write reports, prepare presentations, graphs etc.
This is a fixed term 5 month appointment with a salary in the range of £24,225 to £26,573 per annum.
A driving licence is essential.
