We are looking to recruit a Scientific Specialist with a strong background in statistical genomics and bioinformatics to join the willow breeding team at Rothamsted Research. This post will sit within the Genomics and Molecular Breeding Section and is funded through a recently awarded BEIS Biomass Feedstock Programme grant. This postholder will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists with expertise in genomics, phenotyping and plant breeding to deliver a new genomic selection (GS) platform for biomass willow.
The primary role of this post will be to analyse phenotype data from a network of trial sites alongside high-throughput genotyping data to deliver a GS-led molecular breeding strategy for this crop. In addition to expertise in this area, a good knowledge of genome assembly methods and pangenome analysis would be an advantage.
