The Sustainable Soil and Crops/Plant Sciences and the Bio economy Strategic Areas are recruiting a Technician to provide essential support to Science colleagues, based in the modern Centenary Building in Harpenden, working alongside our current Technician within the area.
The post holder will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to, collecting used glassware from laboratories, washing and returning to the laboratories, preparing sterile supplies and sterile culture media, ordering communal supplies from Stores, where necessary sterilizing them and distributing them to the laboratories and collection and disposal of hazardous waste. General cleaning and maintenance of laboratory and kitchen areas, including sweeping and washing floors will also be required to keep a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to support with sickness and holiday cover for support technicians within other science groups.
The role is part time for 25 hours per week, initially for a 3 year fixed term contract, attracting a salary between £18,841 and £20,807 per annum (pro-rated for 25 hours) dependent on experience.
