An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Technician to join the Genomics and Molecular Breeding Section at Rothamsted Research.  The successful applicant will contribute to our multidisciplinary willow genetic improvement programme, with particular focus on tree genomics and biotechnology.

The post will be mainly laboratory-based, providing the opportunity to work in a well-equipped genomics laboratory with state-of-the-art sequencing capabilities.  Specific duties will include plant sampling, nucleic acid extraction and the construction of NGS libraries for de novo genome sequencing and high-throughput genotyping.  The post will also work alongside specialist scientists in plant tissue culture to help develop protocols for rapid multiplication of elite willow varieties.  Some data analysis and field work will also be required.
