Overview Of Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced researcher to work in a new cross disciplinary project on investigating molecular responses of plants to combined abiotic (heat) and biotic (pathogens) stresses. Hosted jointly by the Departments of Plant Science and Biointeractions and Crop Protection, we are seeking to appoint a Scientific Technician to work on this collaborative project.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in biological science or relevant laboratory-based experience. This role requires technical skills and experience in a variety of molecular plant pathology techniques, including the handling of fungal pathogens of plants, and the extraction and quality control of DNA and RNA from fungi and plants. Experience of metabolite analysis will also be advantageous. Dexterity and the motivation to work to a high standard of accuracy is prerequisite, together with the expectation of being active participants within the wider research group. This is an excellent chance to be involved with establishing and developing a new area of research.

This is a full-time, fixed term post funded for 12 months and has a starting salary within the range of £24,225 to £26,573 per annum depending on experience.
