Overview Of Role

The newly created post, will work as part of the Gardens team at Rothamsted Research you will be required to support with day to day maintenance and improvement of the landscaping at the vast Rothamsted Research campus, Rothamsted Manor and our tenant properties.

You will be responsible for providing general grounds maintenance to a high standard.  The post holder will help to maintain hedges and trees on site using hedge cutters and chainsaws and provide seasonal lawn maintenance including the use of ride on mowers, pedestrian mowers, strimmers and edging. With experience of mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding/spraying, you will support with planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants as well as keeping paths and roads clear of leaves and ice.

We are looking for a practical, creative and knowledgeable Gardener to assist in making sure that the gardens are maintained to a high standard. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and work alongside others in our Gardens team, have a ‘can do attitude’ and the ability to work flexibly in line with the needs of the gardens. 

You will have relevant knowledge of Health and Safety knowledge. RHS Level 2 or equivalent is desirable but not essential if you can demonstrate practical gardening/horticulture experience. You should be competent with machinery/equipment and able to maintain equipment used.

This is a 3 year fixed term post, attracting a salary of £18,441 to £20,807 per annum for 37 hours per week. Interviews are expected to be held on the week commencing 24th May.
