Overview Of Role
Rothamsted Research is seeking to appoint a General Horticulturalist to join the Horticultural and Controlled Environments team to provide outstanding support to the science community at our Harpenden site. We are looking for a candidate with experience working in a similar role, holding relevant RHS qualifications and with a keen interest in working with plants. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and with our customers to provide an outstanding support to enable the development of world class science. 
 
The post holder will be responsible for daily watering and horticultural care of plant material to a high standard, ensuring the plant growing facilities and surrounding areas are cleaned. Experience of application of pest and disease management techniques including the spraying of pesticides will be required. 
 
The position is being recruited on a fixed term contract for 3 years initially and will attract a salary ranging from £18,841 per annum for 37 hours per week. In addition to these hours, it is essential that the post holder joins the rota to provide watering during the weekend, typically 1 in 5 weekends, and to be available to cover bank holidays, Easter and Christmas periods when the site is closed. This will be paid in line with Rothamsted Research overtime payments.
 
Interviews for the position are expected to be held in the week commencing 10th May.
