Overview Of Role

We have an exciting opening for a Head of Procurement to join Rothamsted in a newly created role reporting to and working closely with the Finance Director. Being the lone procurement role with the institute, the role holder will need to be self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities to enhance the procurement practices of the institute and supporting departments in their purchasing to ensure optimum value for money.  The introduction of a new ERP on 1st November marks a transition and the opportunity for the new Head of Procurement to provide a strategic lead and direction in overall procurement within the institute.

The Head of Procurement will be responsible for realising and delivering cost savings and working with management and all stakeholders, ensuring conformity of approach across the institute to deliver better value for money and service provision. The role will include managing relationships with all the institute’s suppliers and leading on the tendering process for large strategic purchases.  Hands on procurement experience with a strategic scope is essential. 

The successful candidate will be a holder of a recognised purchasing qualification and be able to demonstrate exceptional knowledge of current procurement law and practice.You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills together with a customer service approach.
