Overview Of Role

We are seeking a livestock technician to work as part of our small and friendly team at our Rothamsted Research, North Wyke site near Okehampton, Devon. The role will focus on the care of cattle, sheep and goats on experiments investigating multiple aspects of environmental sustainability, livestock production efficiency and livestock health.

As part of the research farm team your duties will include feeding and bedding, the collection and recording of numerous performance parameters, monitoring grazing pressures and overseeing stock movements, the collection and processing of samples for analysis and the day to day maintenance of equipment used to capture green house gas emissions. 

You will preferably be a competent operator of agricultural machinery with experience using IT products for recording and maintaining data-sets. You will need to be flexible to be able to work some weekends (on a rota) and out of week-time hours during busy periods. Ability to perform physically demanding work, outside and in a range of weather conditions is essential.
