Overview Of Role

We have an appealing new role for a qualified electrician to join our small team at our campus near Okehampton, Devon. This role will be an integral part of the facilities team locally and will further support the wider Estates and Scientific Support team.  

This role can be offered with on site accommodation (3 bedrooms) as it is envisaged that the post holder will be a key worker and be able to respond out of hours if necessary.

You will be suitably qualified with an electrical background and have a sound knowledge of general maintenance to include buildings, vehicles and general equipment.  Working as part of a small and friendly team, you will need to be an excellent communicator, flexible and have a proactive approach. 

The role will entail the following:

  • Demonstrate experience in maintenance and repair of a wide and varied range of electrical systems to include; Commercial lighting, emergency lighting, fault finding
  • Identify the cause of maintenance/building equipment/vehicle failures and work with colleagues to resolve them
  • Schedule and deliver all planned preventative maintenance tasks over the year ensuring statutory compliance at all times
  • Complete all task /risk assessments sheets and method statements relating to work
  • Responsible for undertaking electrical isolations.

Experience of working with the following desirable:

  • Fire Alarms
  • BMS
  • Basic Joinery and Plumbing
  • AHU & Fume Cupboards
  • Air Conditioning Units
