Genomics-led improvement of biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in mustard rape for economic and environmental sustainability

We are seeking a  part-time Scientific Technician to join the Lipid Metabolism and signalling group at Rothamsted to carry out lipid analyses in Brassica diversity collections. The project will involve using existing TLC, HPLC and GC-MS/FID methods for analysis of cuticular and seed lipids (wax, cutin, glycerolipids and sterols). This work is part of a Newton Fund project (Pulses & Oilseeds Research Initiative) funded by BBSRC.

The successful candidate will join an interactive team of researchers in a collaborative scientific environment focused on fundamental and biotechnological aspects of plant lipids and on developing new tools for their study. For more information, please visit http://www.rothamsted.ac.uk/

Applicants must have a degree in plant biology or biochemistry, an ability for independent research and an interest in interdisciplinary approaches. Demonstrated background in lipid biochemistry is essential. The ideal candidate will have some experience of lipidomic techniques (e.g. lipid analysis by ESI-MS/MS).

This 1 year fixed term post at Band C is part time (50%) with a pro-rata salary in the range of £24,225 - £26,573 per annum FTE.
