Overview Of Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team developing software applications to support crop protection research and lead development of the Rothamsted Insect Survey National Capability database. 
 
The post-holder will be a senior data applications developer with proven java programming and relational database skills for developing data driven desktop and web applications.
 
Experience of Git or equivalent version control software is essential as is experience of gathering user requirements, interpreting to a specification and using change control procedures to manage software development. 
 
The successful candidate will work with scientists from the Rothamsted Insect Survey to maintain and modernise the existing database applications and develop new programmatic interfaces for querying and accessing the Insect Survey data and work with crop protection scientists to develop systems for managing novel sensor data.   You will gather requirements and advise scientists on the design data applications, provide appropriate training and knowledge transfer.
