Overview Of Role
 This is a unique opportunity for an experienced technician to join a small laboratory team as a ruminant nutrition feed analyst.  With specific responsibility for fibre analysis using standard wet chemistry and NIR techniques, and assisting with the associated development of methodologies and procedures as required (e.g. HPLC techniques for organic acids and alcohols and water soluble carbohydrates. The post holder will also be required to give advice and guidance to researchers on analysis, quality and data as required, to assist the team with water and soil extract analysis and to assist with the day-to-day running of the Analytical Chemistry Unit at North Wyke. 

The successful candidate should have experience of working in a chemistry laboratory and using specialist laboratory equipment, as well as full competency in the use of standard software packages (e.g. MS Office, email, internet), and technical or scientific education to NVQ Level 3 or AS/A-Level (or equivalent). A scientific degree, experience and / or knowledge of ruminant nutrition analysis methodologies, as well as familiarity with basic statistical data/data analysis techniques and data management would be an advantage.

This is a fixed term appointment ending 31/3/2021 with a salary in the range of £24,225 to £26,573 per annum
