Overview Of Role

We are urgently seeking a Web Developer to work within both the Wheat Pathogenomics and Applied Bioinformatics teams  (which bring together biology, molecular genetics, computational science and bioinformatics to provide new leads for crop improvement and smart crop protection).

Working  on a resource allowing researchers without specialist bioinformatics skills to contribute directly to the data content within the PHI-base database (www.PHI-base.org) .  The successful candidate with be working at modifying and improving the existing front-end HTML and JavaScript code of the PHI-base curation tool (PHI Canto) that will permit researchers to enter the data from their own peer reviewed research publication into PHI-base in a guided and controlled way. An important aspect of this project is to extend the existing Canto front-end to enable the curation of phenotypes observed during pathogen-host interaction experimentation, and this tool has to be able to handle multiple species simultaneously. 

You will have experience with the development of web-based applications, programming in JavaScript and ideally knowledge of AngularJS framework.  Experience of working in a Linux environment and using GitHub are essential.  Knowledge of /interest in biological experimentation would be advantageous.   You will be able to work both remotely and on site at Rothamsted Research in Harpenden.
