Overview Of Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team with the aim to sequence several insect pest genomes and build bioinformatics resources to accelerate crop protection and pesticide resistance research. 
 
The post-holder will be a senior Bioinformatician who will be expected to be familiar with a range of sequencing methods and data (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore, 10x Genomics) and be an expert in genome assembly, annotation and comparative genomics. The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists across various disciplines and liaise with sequencing centres and bioinformatics platform providers to ensure delivery of several high quality, completed insect genomes per year.
 
The post-holder will also provide advice to the project partners on the design of sequencing experiments and application of Bioinformatics data analysis. They will be supported by a Bioinformatics team and contribute to training and knowledge transfer to improve understanding and interpretation of Bioinformatics approaches.
 
This is a 3 year fixed term appointment offering a salary in the range of £37,890 - £41,438 per annum.
